Private Security Guard Allegedly Abducts Employer’s Twin Sons in Niger, Demands Ransom

A private security guard employed by a businessman in Minna, Niger State, has allegedly abducted his employer’s two six-year-old sons and handed them over to kidnappers, sparking widespread concern in the state.

The victims, identified as Umar and Anas, were reportedly taken away on Sunday afternoon from the Brighter Area of Minna by the security guard, Sani Abdulrahman, under the guise of taking them out to celebrate Eid-el-Kabir.

According to the children’s father, Danjuma, he became worried after discovering that both his sons and the security guard were nowhere to be found. Initial fears that the children may have been involved in an accident prompted family members to search hospitals across Minna metropolis.

However, the situation took a more alarming turn when Danjuma reportedly received a phone call from suspected kidnappers operating from the Erena Forest in Shiroro Local Government Area, demanding ransom for the release of the children.
The distraught father has appealed to the Niger State Government, security agencies, and members of the public to support efforts to secure the safe return of his sons. He also called for prayers as the family awaits positive developments.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Niger State Police Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, said investigations are ongoing.

“The security man, Sani, pretended that he was taking the children out for Salah celebrations in town, but since then, they have not returned. Investigation has commenced, while efforts are ongoing to locate the children,” Abiodun stated.

Security agencies have intensified efforts to track down the suspects and rescue the abducted children. The incident has once again highlighted growing concerns over kidnapping and security challenges in parts of Niger State.
